Seafarers Medical
Fitness Certificates
A medical fitness certificate is required by all seafarers who work on commercial ships. A medical fitness certificate is also required for a new or upgraded certificate of competency for a fishing vessel. Medical fitness certificates are issued to a seafarer following examination by an approved doctor. The medical examination is to verify that seafarers meet the minimum requirements of medical fitness including hearing and eyesight. Anyone considering a career at sea is strongly advised to obtain a medical fitness certificate before embarking on any seagoing courses or training.
Dr McDonnell is approved to issue seafarer medical fitness certificates.
